Lifestyle Team Gets Involved with Local Rescue Mission

The Lifestyle Foods team ready to go for their volunteer day at the Rescue Mission in York, PA.

The entire Lifestyle team happily took some time from their day for the opportunity to volunteer at the Rescue Mission in York, PA this past week. A very humbling experience, no task was too large for the Lifestyle team. Each team member did all they could to make sure that no client of the Mission, young or old left the building without an exchange of kind words and having had a hot meal.

“Loyalty, Community, and Respect are the core values of Lifestyle, Inc. and its team members,” says CEO Jason Bross, “being able to get involved with our local community is a privilege for our team and we’ve really enjoyed having the opportunity to help out today”.

Planks, Adding Stability to Your Core

Plank exercises add stability to your core and are a great way to get a tighter tummy regardless of gender or experience level.*

First, start with your forearms and toes on the floor.

Next, rise and (as the picture shows) make sure that you are keeping your body parallel with the floor as you count to ten. Make sure that you keep weight evenly distributed, and your core engaged.

Use your core to stabilize your body while you count – not your arms!

Finally, release your body after the count is up and rest for a few moments before attempting to go for your next count. Repeat twice after the first count to ten.

Each day that you do this exercise try to increase your counts by at least five to build up strength.

If your back is up to it you can always go for a count to twenty the first time around if you feel that holding this position and counting to ten is not challenging enough for you.

For added difficulty – and once you get to this point, you can challenge your core even more by balancing on an exercise ball.

Women’s Spring 2011 Style

Spring is all about bright colors and natural accessories for Women’s Spring 2011 fashion. Healthy doses of yellow, pink, and pretty patterns have dotted the runways and are finally trickling into stores. With the official first day of summer still two and a half months away – we’ll still have plenty of time to fill our closets with the cute new hues of spring, for an easier transition into the summer months. Dresses with a dropped hem, over sized bangles, soft make up with lips that pop, and natural straw bags that are ready to grab and go are the icing on your spring look cupcake (fat-free of course). :)

Men’s Spring 2011 Trends

Fashion is one thing – but style is the way through which you visually separate yourself from everyone else. Now that spring has arrived its time to clean out those closets, toss the heavier fabrics and opt for lighter ones that are still layer-able while the weather is still cool. Lightly crinkled fabrics, updated board shorts, and little pops of color are what Spring 2011 mean for men this season…

Eating Right – Before & After the Gym

The Hollywood

The Hollywood - A satisfying snack for any time of the day...

Making it to the gym. For most, the motivation to put on your running shoes can be a huge hurdle on all its own! Let alone trying to make sure that what’s going into your body is as healthy as what you are doing for your body. The following article is a quick guide for teaching people what healthy snacks are best for every gal or guy on the go! Whole grains are a focus in this article, just as they are a focus of Lifestyle Foods’ current and future healthy snacks and healthy salads for the on the go individual.

Eating Right

This article in particular makes three things stand out in my mind: the all new Oatmeal Kit, the Hollywood Snack, and the Essential Snack. Each healthy snack is perfect for a quick snack or small meal before or after your trip to the gym, and each variety is packed with their own delightfully satisfying mix of whole grains, protein, and vitamins to help knock out those pesky pre- and post-workout hunger pangs – with NONE of the guilt.

Get Happy: Eat Breakfast

Lifestyle Foods' Oatmeal KitThe mantra of the health-conscious “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day” is easier said than done. For many, a morning time crunch necessitates the sacrifice of a well rounded meal. Lifestyle Foods’ new Breakfast Kit provides convenience without having to forgo this vital boost. The combination provides a high-quality assortment of delicious and filling options for the office, school day or travel. High in both Vitamin C and Calcium, the Breakfast Kit makes an excellent choice for a low-calorie meal on the run.

According to the USDA eating breakfast is key to keeping the body’s metabolism and blood sugar stable throughout the day. An increase in metabolism is not the only health benefit. Studies show that eating a balanced morning meal increases both energy level and mood. Brain chemicals like serotonin send “feel good” messages that ultimately make you happier throughout the day.

Lifestyle Foods’ Breakfast Kit is an energizing combination of a low fat yogurt, graham crackers, fresh natural orange juice, all-natural granola bar, and raisins. Each component is designed to suit taste preferences; Mix the raisins in the yogurt, dip your graham cracker. Prefer to eat the creamy yogurt by itself? Leave your utensils at home – A spoon is included! Each ingredient is packaged separately, providing the option to save the granola bar or raisins to eat as a snack later in the day.

The new kit provides balance as the perfect accompaniment to Lifestyle Foods’ other offerings. Currently available are a line protein salads and side salads, both with fresh chopped romaine and a fork. The protein salads provide that extra energy boost, while the healthy side salads pair with tasty low fat dressings for under 150 calories. Lifestyle Foods also offers a line of enticing snacks that combine fresh components with high-quality ingredient combinations including honey wheat pretzels with white cheddar cheese and mini-organic whole wheat pitas with hummus. The best part? These snacks are under 240 calories as well!

Lifestyle Foods launched in 2006, filling a void in the marketplace to provide healthy grab-and-go consumer products in the perishable category. Their focus is to fit a new trendy, health-conscious generation of customers with whom the company itself can relate. The company’s founder and CEO, Jason Bross, noticed an opening in the market for healthy, tasty, and ready to eat products. Other products can be deceiving; offering convenience and not nutrition. This prompted the team to conduct worldwide research seeking healthy innovations. Continuing their research on what products customers crave, Lifestyle Foods provides new options with a variety of choices to fit any taste.
